About Phree
Built on the idea that food access should be simple.
Phree started with a question: why is it so hard to find food assistance when you need it? We're here to make sure that answer changes.
Our story
Food assistance in most communities is scattered across dozens of websites, social media posts, and word of mouth. A neighbor in need might call five places before finding one that's open.
Phree was built to fix that. We bring verified food pantries, community fridges, meal programs, and assistance services into one simple platform — with up-to-date hours, eligibility, and what's actually on the shelves.
We're a small team supported by volunteers, donors, and the organizations doing the daily work of feeding their communities. Together, we're making food access easier, more dignified, and always free.

Here in Prince George's County, over 109,000 residents rely on SNAP each month, and nearly 70% of public school students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. At the same time, the Greater Washington region reports that 36% of residents are not always confident about their next meal — with severe food insecurity rising for a third straight year. Meanwhile, across America, 24% of everything thrown into landfills is food. The disconnect between abundance and access is exactly what Phree was built to bridge.
What we believe.
Dignity first
Everyone deserves a clear, judgment-free path to food. Our design choices, language, and partnerships all start there.
Always free
No paywalls, no accounts, no ads on the resource map. Phree is free for the people who need it most.
Built with community
Pantry coordinators, volunteers, and neighbors keep our data fresh through verified, community-submitted updates.
Culturally rooted
We share recipes, ingredients, and resources that reflect the communities we serve — not a one-size-fits-all menu.
